AM335x EMU2-4 functionality

Hi,

I was wondering what the difference between the 14 and 20 bit TI JTAG connector was in terms of feature set. I know that the 20 pin connector includes the EMU2-4 signals, but I haven't been able to find any solid information on which features on the AM335x make use of these.

Hi,

EMU2-4 are used for trace debugging and are not mandatory. If you don't need trace capabilities you can safely use the 14-pin JTAG.

Just to be sure, tracing using the Embedded Trace Buffer is still available with the 14 pin connector, correct? The difference is that the 20 pin header allows the trace data to be output over the EMU pins and use the larger buffer that would be present on an XDS560.

Yes, this is true. The XDS560 trace also will function with only EMU0/1 connected. See the demo clip at this link: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_Trace
