genAIS.pl in i2cmaster mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SPRC203

I use such command file:

genAIS.pl -i ..\Debug\DSP_6726C.out -o DSP.asm -bootmode i2cmaster -otype asm -cfgtype ais -cfg Target.cfg

Target.cfg file consists of next strings:

-pllCfg 0

-i2cClkCfg 1
-i2cclkcfgpsc 0x00000004
-i2cclkcfgclkl 0x00000004
-i2cclkcfgclkh 0x00000005

-sdramCfg 0

-asyncRamCfg 0x0

After executing command file I obtained file DSP.asm:

.word 0x41504954
.word 0x58535903
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
;;; Loading .text:
;;; Run/CopyTo Address: 0x10001C00
;;; Number bytes to copy: 0x00001320
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
.word 0x58535901
.word 0x10001C00
.word 0x00001320
.word 0x020000FA......................

Where is no commands for programming I2C clocks.

Where I wrong?

  • Hi Constantine Musatoff,

Not able to understand your question.

    1. Is the perl script (genAIS.pl) gives error while executing it? or you are looking for some portion of code related to configuration of I2cClock and it is missing?

    2. May I know which TI processor you use? and your objective using genAIS.pl

    Regards,

    Shankari

  • Thank you, Shankari!

    1. I don't see any error on executing script:

    C:\tidcs\sprc203\TMS320C672xxBootUtils\bootUtilities\utils\bin\genAIS.pl -i ..\Debug\DSP_6726C.out -o DSP.bin -bootmode i2cmaster -otype bin -cfgtype ais -cfg Target.cfg
    AIS File Generation Complete

    2. I use chip TMS320C6726BRFP-266 and I2C master boot.

When I modified script to get BIN file, I obtained it. This binary file I load into eeprom  CAT24MD01W and I see as DSP is loading program, but very slowly.

  • Hi Constantine,

    Thanks for your post.

You have to check the C672x bootloader application report to get all details on serial EEPROM boot. To address your initial post, there is no command line script option available in genAIS to program I2C clocks but instead, if you install genBootCfg, a GUI based tool in which you should be able to configure I2C clock, PLL, EMIF SDRAM/ASRAM, GPIO etc. Please refer Section 6.2 for the usage of genBootCfg in the C672x application report SPRAA69D as below:

    http://www.ti.com/lit/an/spraa69d/spraa69d.pdf

There is a complete list of genAIS options applicable to use in command line script, please refer Table 13 in the above doc. to get an overview on the same.

Again, to address your second concern, loading the boot image into eeprom was very slow, this ultimately depends on the device clock speed and data bus width. There are several boot examples available in the above application report for producing AIS data in a format compatible with EEPROM. Please refer Section 7 in the above doc and also kindly check the below link:

    Thanks & regards,

    Sivaraj K

  • Thank you, Sivaraj!

Yes, I read document spraa69d and made configuration file by tool genBootCfg. I tried to use any configurations and obtained several errors on genAIS execution. I think that problem is in perl version. I can find only version 5.8.8 or later. I read that version 5.8.4 or 5.8.6 is need. But I cant to obtain this version of ActivePerl. Can you put proper version of ActivePerl?
