interfacing 128MB nor flash with TMS320C6678

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6678

hey hi,

it is clear that there are 4 chip selects on TMS320C6678 for EMIF . thing is I dont want to use four 32MB flash to make it to 128MB. I am planning to use single 128MB flash device. please verify the following scheme whether it can be implemented or not......

    Thanks.

  • It could be done in theory. You will have to ensure that the gate propagation delays from the DSP to the memory for A24 and A25 satisfy the setup and hold time requirements for EMIF16 read/write cycles (See Table 7-78 of the C6678 data manual).

I am also not sure if the chip select pins can handle that kind of fan-out/loading.

Another thing - connecting to a 16-bit memory requires A23 of the EMIF to be connected to A0 of the memory. EMIF16 A[22:0] should be connected to A[23:1] of the memory. Please see Figure 2-2 and 2-3 along with the note that follows them in the EMIF16 users guide (sprugz3a).
