SD/MMC more than 2 GB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L137

Dear All,

I have an OMAP-L137. When I use 2 GB SD/MMC and set the filesystem to use it, all things are ok. However, when I want to use 4 GB SD/MMC, the system cannot find the filesystem. I think the kernel does not support the 4 GB SD/MMC. Please, help me.

Thanks,

  • Dear All,

I found the response. The montavista 5.0 does not support SDHC as mentioned in this link. TI has delivered a patch for DM365 but not for OMAP-L137.

  • I think MontaVista 5.0 is based upon a very old 2.6.18 kernel. That patch appears to be from a non-TI person from long ago on an older version of the E2E forum. The old post has probably moved to a new address. The patch itself does not appear to be DM365 specific and probably would work for the OMAP-L137.

I suggest moving to newer versions of the linux kernel. Those definitely support SDHC and probably fix a lot of other bugs. TI has some newer Linux PSP packages based upon the 2.6.37 kernel. There are some even newer versions at TI's GIT at www.arago-project.org. It will take some effort to switch to a different toolchain but I think it is worth it.

  • I would second Norman's recommendations. Later kernels do have the support for SDHC.

You can also see this from the system testing/performance benchmark summaries for the PSP releases

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/DaVinci_PSP_03.22.00.06_Device_Driver_Features_and_Performance_Guide#MMC.2FSD_Driver

the card that was used was an 8GB SDHC.
