Hands-on: How can I give more RAM to the DSP?

The earlier answers of the forum to my Memory-Map questions led to this document. I read it thoroughly, but still don't know exactly what to do. So I'll be a bit pushy, maybe someone can give straight help?

Can you describe, step by step, how I get more memory for the DSP side of my DM816x (with 256MB RAM, using ezsdk)?

Do I really have to rebuild the rootfs?

In the earlier versions of ezsdk, there was much less memory reserved for the media controller. I could surely use this on the DSP ;) Oh, we're currently using ezsdk 5.05.02.00.

Thanks again for your help,

Markus

  • Markus,

I've not tried this myself. But I believe the "DSP for OMX" section in the wiki page explains where exactly to modify. To be on safer side you can build the whole EZSDK after making the modifications.

You can check the map file of DSP binary and M3 binaries to verify the effectiveness of your change.
