ReBooting failed sometimes for C6452DSP

Hi DSP experts,

I am using C6452 DSP. The booting is done using Host PC via HPI interface. when we switch on our Windows embedded PC first, we boot the DSP with one .out file. Then the DSP is booted perfectly. As we used Power on reset(POR) to reset the DSP. Then when we reboot the (using power on reset (POR) one more time)DSP with other out file the booting failed. But this is not happening every time and also not happening with all the DSPs what we have on different hardwares. Its happeing only some times with some specific DSP's. And also we are using 3 other different out files to reboot the DSP's. it works completely fine. Only one .out file is not working.

But i think its not the .out file problem as the DSP is booting correctly when we use different hardwares with different DSPs. only the problem coming with some hardwares only some times not even always.

we don't know what is the problem as it is the .out file problem(we don't think) or when we load the .out file to reboot the DSP.

do you know which components are resetted when we do the Power on Reset(POR) other than completely starting the windows PC?

and what is the real problem for this strange behavior?

Thanks,

Ramana.

  • Hi Ramana,

    Thanks for your post.

Please walkthough Section 6.7.1 (Power-on-Reset) in the C6452 DSP datasheet doc. which would give you an idea on the effects of different type of Reset pins handled by the reset controller. Please refer the below doc. for more details on the same.

In general, POR pin resets the entire chip including the test and emulation logic.
