Does it mean that I have to buy extra hardware? I wasn't looking forward that, wouldn't OMAP be able to process ECG signals?

Thanks for your update.

Ofcourse, OMAP 35x family & OMAPL13x family supports ECG & EEG end equipments. You don't have to buy any extra hardwares. I mean C55x family was more commonly used hardware.

Please refer the components recommended section (amplifiers, dataconverters, processors, power management, RF IC's, toolkits etc) for ECG & EEG in the App. guide below (refer page no's. 21,22 &* 23):
