Hi,

I have a question about AM335x.

I'm searching for NAND spec which AM335x GPMC support.
In AM335x Technical Reference Manual(spruh73j) page.264
" 7.1.1.1 GPMC Features", it's written as follow:

Up to 16-bit ECC support for NAND flash using BCH code (t=4, 8 or 16) or Hamming code for 8-bit or
16-bit NAND-flash, organized with page size of 512 bytes, 1K bytes, or more.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

What is the max page size and the max block size of NAND supported in GPMC?

Hi g.f,

This is specified in Table 26-14 of the AM335X TRM. This table applies for non-ONFI compliant devices. For ONFI compliant devices Boot ROM reads the information directly from the NAND.

I checked the Table 26-14, but let me ask again to make me sure.
I understood as follow:
From Table 26-14 and Table 26-15, if NAND is non-ONFI compliant,
the max page size is 4KB and the max Block size is 512kB, is it correct?

What is the max size for ONFI compliant NAND?
Is there no limitation for the size?

By the way, whether the tables(26-14/26-15) also apply when not using NAND boot?

The tables apply for NAND boot. What is the NAND that you are asking about?

Hi Biser,

Sorry, the question was from my customer,
so that I don't know yet what purpose they are going to use NAND.
May be it is for boot or Data storage.

By the way, is my understanding correct that max page size is 4KB and
max block size is 512kB if NAND boot are in used?

I don't have any definitive information. 4K page is supported for sure. I know that people have had problems with 8K page NANDs.

I uderstood.

By the way, block size depends to page size, so that if max page size 4KB,
I think the max block size is not 512KB but 256KB.
Because my uderstanding is NAND block = 64 pages,
so 1block = 64 page * 4KB = 256KB , is this correct?
