Hello!
During the years I gained some experience with the c5502, so this can be a start point for my project, maybe I need more DSP power. And I am NOT an expert in audio processing, that’s where I ask for some help or hints.
My task is to develop a kind of phone to talk via internet to someone in free nature in up to 5m distance. Talking is good enough, the bandwidth will be limited to about 3KHz. To understand each other is the big goal, not finest audio quality. This application is not what you find I every phone, tablet,… And as far as I was able to research there is no finished solution for this (if anybody knows or can sell, please tell me!). Now I face several tasks:
- echo cancellation is needed. For short range there is enough material around to do the job. But for using the system outside and may be with up to 500ms tail length this can become a hard job.
- beam forming should be there to reduce noise, several microphones are ok.
So does anybody have experience? And therefore additional questions:
- some people say if you have beam forming only a standard echo cancellation like in phones is necessary because the echo from walls far away are reduced by the beam forming. The echo cancellation is necessary to suppress the coupling between loudspeaker and microphones and echo from reflectors close by. Is this true?
- if I have to do full scale echo cancellation of about 500ms at a bandwidth of 3KHz and the beam forming, does anybody have the experience if the C5000 machines have enough power or must I switch to a different family?
Best regards
Hartmut
