Is DSP BIOS compliant with DO-178B? Are there possible alternatives for other RTOS?

Hello,

We’re developing software for TMS320C6455 Texas Instruments DSP. We are using DSP BIOS in our developments but do you know if DSP BIOS is compliant with DO-178B certification. Could you please provide some information regarding this issue? Do you know if you have some RTOS which is DO-178B certification compliant? Could we substitute DSP/BIOS in the TMS320C6455 Texas Instruments DSP and use another RTOS which is DO-178B compliant? Do you know any RTOS compliant with DO-178B?

Any suggestion will be very appreciated

Hi Francisco,

DSP/BIOS is not tested for DO-178B compliance. Industry specific testing is the responsibility of the user.

We do not have another OS tested for DO-178B for our DSPs.

In order to be compliant, we have to have access to the source code. Is TI willing to make the source code available for DO-178B certification?

We deliver the source for the Run-Time Support library. But DSP/BIOS is only released as an object library.

My recommendation is to search the industry for someone who has written and supports an RTOS that meets your requirements. Or you can contact your local sales office to see if there is a business model with TI that would suit your needs.
