Reliability Estimator for C667x

Hi,

TI provides a tool to calculate the MTBF and FIT Rate for TI parts.
http://focus.ti.com/quality/docs/partnumsearch.tsp?templateId=5909&navigationId=11213&mtbfType=true

When I try to get data for C6678 (and other C667x), they all show the same FIT Rate of 7.183.
When I open the Excel Spreadsheet, it shows the TMS320F28015PZSR.

Is there a failure in the database?

Thanks,

Norbert

  • Norbert,

I would expect the C6678/4/2/1 devices to all have the same FIT rate curve.  I'm verifying the FIT rate value but I believe that to be correct.

You'll want to click the 'Download Spreadsheet' link to the right of the Derating tool and use the MTBF and FIT from those into the Derating Tool as noted on line 5 of the Derating tool "

Copy Search Results from Downloaded Spreedsheet into Row 11 below

  • I've verified the FIT rate value with internal data.

  • Chad,

Thank you for your quick answer.
I copied the data into the Derating Tool, and it works fine.

But I would have expected, that the higher the number of transistors of a DSP, the higher the FIT rate should be.
Because when the same silicon process is used, more transistors should increase the probability for failures.

So shouldn't the C6678 have a higher FIT rate than the C6671?
Can you give me more information how TI calculates the FIT rate?

    Thanks,

    Norbert

  • Norbert,

They are the same die w/ the 4, 6 or 7 CorePac's e-fused off.  Even though the logic of the unused CorePac's are e-fused off, we use the same FIT rate for all transistors.

    Best Regards,
