Linux compiling PPA from source - OMAP4

I am working with TI release GLP 1.6.8 on Pandaboard/OMAP4.  The baseline GLP 1.6.8 complies and runs.  From the release notes the only way to install the PPA packages, like GStreamer and OMAP4 extras is through using apt-get install.  The system I am building needs to build everything from source and can’t perform any runtime updates.

Do TI have any tools which enable building the Kernel and PPA packages from source – without the need for runtime updates.  I can’t be the first person to encounter this issue.

Any guidance appreciated.
