I can't boot over uart

Hello,

I'm trying to boot from uart but I can't get it. I 'm following the instruccions of this link

but when I transfer the u-boot-spl.bin (xmodem), minicom prints the following:

Hi Carlos,

What are your SYSBOOT settings? Do you see "CCCCCCC" characters printed on your terminal when you start the board?

Hi Biser,

Yes, I can see 'CCCCCC' on my terminal. My sysboot is SYSBOOT[4:0]=00100b .

This seems OK. Have you checked your cable? If this is a custom board do you have an RS-232 to 3.3V level translator on your board (or cable)?

Hi Biser, I checked the cable and I think all is right.

Now, I have done the same through the Teraterm terminal, the result is different and the output tells us more about the problem. Do you have any idea about this??

Oh, so the terminal was behaving badly after all. Good to have this solved!

Now, I suppose you have a custom board. The EEPROM section is designed for TI EVM boards, in order for u-boot to automatically recognize them. On a custom board you don't need this EEPROM. You will need to modify the source code to skip the EEPROM check, as described in this thread: http://e2e.ti.com/support/arm/sitara_arm/f/791/t/297989.aspx

Since you are seeing errors with the i2c bus this sounds like a customer board. You might also want to look at the board port training.

Hi ,

I have done a compilation with the files(board.c, mux.c) from PHYTEC for pcm051 (based in am335x). This files don't have the EEPROM checks. It seems that this configuration adapts better to my board and I have got transfer the compilation (u-boot-spl.bin, u-boot.img) but prints the following:

Do you have a NAND memory on your board? It seems to me that u-boot is trying to read something from NAND.

Hi Biser,

Yes, I have a NAND memory on my board. Now, I am stuck in that problem. I have the NAND support added(board.c,mux.c) but I don't get to solve it, maybe that support is not correct.

Hi Carlos,

I can't really say about this u-boot from Phytec. For all I know they may have heavily modified it to support their boards.
