ICSS switch driver for Linux

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Hello,

I like to port the IgH ethercat master to the 3358 processor (BeagleBone black) with Xenomai RT support. For this I need a low latency ethernet connection. Doing some research I found the possibility to use the ICSS switch driver found on the AM335x SYSBIOS Industrial SDK and the Ethernet/IP demo, that uses this driver.

Is there a chance to get this ported to Linux/RTAI. Currently I'm thinking about using the firmware that is shipped with the Ethernet/IP demo for the PRUs and write a kernel driver based on icss_nimu_eth.c and friends. But I'm not sure if that will be possible nor if TI will allow to publish this driver under GPL?

Where could I found in-depth information about the PRU ethernet stuff and about what the PRU firmware used in the Ethernet/IP demo exactly does?

Thank You much and Kind Regards

Sascha
