Error during building Full Featured EtherCAT application using CCS

Dear Gayatri,

you may check the value of your ENV variable IA_SDK_HOME. In addition I recommend to move to latest IA-SDK 1.1.0.3.

Where do I check the ENV variable. Is there any place where i can declare it.

Open a command window and type 'set'. That will list all defined environment variables. Usually the IA-SDK installer defines IA_SDK_HOME but it may have failed due to system permissions (depends on your windows version).

I have set all the environment variables.It is set correctly as  IA_SDK_HOME=C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1\sdk

But still when I try to build the full feature application it gives me an error

Compilation failure
"../am335x.cmd", line 10: error #10008-D: cannot find file
"am335x_platform.lib"
fatal error #6001: cannot open file
"C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1\sdk\platform\am335x\lib": Permission
denied

I will brief the steps used:

1. I imported the project from C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1\sdk\protocols\ethercat_slave\ecat_appl

2. Downloaded the Beckhoff Slave Stack Code

3. In slave Stack Tool I build a custom project on TI platform and imported the required files. 

4. Clicked the Create Slave Files.

5. Copied the .h and .c files to C:\ti\am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1\sdk\protocols\ethercat_slave\ecat_appl\EcatStack

6. Built the project

Is there anything I am missing out. Kindly let me know. 

The exact error description is as follows after I have set the ENV variables:

Gayatri,

you also need to add the lib path for am335x_platform.lib to the search path in your projects linker options. I think that was previously discussed on the forum.

I currently don't have a screen shot but you also need to add the path to am335x_platform.lib into the search paths (lower part of the screen. This is needed as there is a reference to the lib in the linker cmd file that otherwise doesn't get resolved.

This is a CCS or tools issue that came up with some later release.  

I have added the search path as a direct path : "C:/ti/am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1/sdk/platform/am335x/lib"

Still I get error during linking. Pls take a look at the build log.

Gayatri Powar, also add the paths of drivers.lib platform.lib and sys_bios_driver.lib to the library search path.

As you said I've added the libraries. But still I face the same issue.

Can you share all the library files and the Search Path for the Full featured demo application. It will of great help.

the IA-SDK contains all the files. and the paths depend on your install and are easy to find. It seems to be more an issue of your tools. Are you actually able to build any of the basic examples provided?

The error message in your log indicates some issue with the RTS library that is provided by the compiler. Still I can only recommend to use the latest SDK 1.1.0.3. We also have dependencies of the patch for the EtherCAT example with the version of Beckhoff/ETG slave sample code. See the readme doc for EtherCAT example.

Thanks a lot for the reply, I will install the latest SDK. I face the same issue on sample application as well.

The Tools version I'm currently using is:

• am335x_sysbios_ind_sdk_1.1.0.1
•  xdctools_3_25_05_94
• bios_6_35_04_50
• EtherCAT Slave Stack Code V5.10

Please let me know any other tool I have to update apart from the SDK.

Also, like you said the patch file. When I use the patch provided with TI I get error. So I used the Slave Stack Tool TI application, and provided the required header and C files. I saved the files created using Slave Stack Tool in the EcatStack folder in the ethercat application.

Please correct me if I am going wrong.

I downloaded a SDK 1.1.1.0.3

I am able to resolve the errors. 

There are bo problems seen still the console shows this message.
