Hello,

I have used the 20-pin header that has the EM0-4 signals. I would like to know if I can use EM2-4 for IO purposes as well. I do have the EMU0 and EM1 pulled up high. I have used this header before for JTAG with AM3352 but I need more IOs and was hoping to use EM2-4.

Yes, you can use EMU[4:2] as signal pins. If you don't need trace capabilities you can even exclude them from the JTAG connector.

Hello Biser,

Thank you for your reply - is there a way to use these pins both as a Emulation and IOs. I think I read in the technical reference manual that at the start of emulation these pins needs to be in a known state - so can I use them for IOs that will have a pull-up or pull-down? Also would adding a series resistor, between the JTAG and IO (not on the micro side but on the peripheral side) help in using these pins for dual purpose.

The AM3352 manual says EMU0 and EMU1 can be used as GPIOs, in mode 7. However, if <EMU1,EMU0> = <1,0>, the processor fails to boot. The processor apparently goes into 'wait_on_reset" mode. If this is so, how can we use these pins as GPIOs?
