AM335x board not booting linux

Good Morning:

I have the AM335X starter kit and I was running the labs.  I was able to get minicom running at ttyUSB1.  Then I think I run the setup.sh and I recall setting the boot up from TFTP server?  Then everything went dark.

The hardware should be fine, the Android dev sd card boots it up and everything was running.  The Linux sd boot card does not wake up the board any more.  The power LED comes on and that is it.  The LCD screen never started.  I tried to connect through minicom again, but I can never connect right.  I see only none displayable characters.

I am running VMplayer on windows 7 with Ubuntu Linux 10.04 desktop.  I tried to use the sudo ./create-sdcard.sh.  the utility pops up a few lines and ask for a device number, but there was no device to select from.  The SD card is pluged into the SD card reader on my Dell Latitude E6410 laptop.

any ideas?

  • Yili,

    Sorry you are having trouble.

When you ran the setup script, it changed your boot env to boot from TFTP. Do you have a TFTP server up and running? If not, given the going "dark", the board can't boot.

When you plug the SD card into your laptop, it should pop up the "boot" partition in either Windows or your VM. Whichever one, delete the uEnv.txt file and it should get you booting again.

Also, the create SD card script cannot use your internal card reader on your Dell. You'll need to get a USB based reader and make sure it connects to your VM when you plug it in to create a new card.
