DVRRDK screen shot capture available for DM814x?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM8107

The DVRRDK has a FAQ at DVRRDK_04.01.00.02/dvr_rdk/docs/UserGuides/DM81xx_DVR_RDK_FAQs.pdf which mentions this:

Q: Is there support for screen shot capture in RDK?

A: Feature is to capture the screen on the HDMI display. We have added a new driver in HDVPSS called write back capture driver. This appears like a capture driver to system but instead of capturing data from external source it is capturing data just before HDMI output from HDVPSS. Currently this driver capture data from SC5 with optional scaling done before writing to DDR memory. It writes in YUV422I format. It writes at the same rate as display i.e 60fps. In order to compress this we must use NSF link to convert it to YUV420 before giving for compression. This driver is integrated in DM8107 4D1/8CH use-case, so this can be used as reference (3.50 release onwards).

To integrate in a use case you instantiate a capture link with this as one of the capture instances and then use NSF link and encode link to encode it.

The answer mentions DM8107.  Is this feature available for DM814x too?

  • Yes capture of HDMI screen output is supported on 814x as well. There is no usecase on 814x that demonstrates this but you can refer

    /dvr_rdk/mcfw/src_linux/mcfw_api/usecases/ti816x/multich_hd_sdi_dvr.c

    multich_hdsdidvr_set_capture_prm

    code under #ifdef MULTICH_HDSDIDVR_SIMULATE_HD_CAPTURE

    for example usage
