OLED display interface with AM3505 SoC

Can you help me to understand purpose of "Video Interfaces – RFBI Signals"? It looks similar signals to 8/9 bit parallel interface which 68XX or 80XX does support !! Isn't it ??

Thanks again for quick response. We were planning to use OLED EVK that has "SEPS525" OLED display controller which also supports RGB interface : 18/16/6-bit data interface along with Parallel interface : 68/80series MPU(8/9/16/18-bit).

I know that AM3505 SoC support up to 24-bit RGB data interface in Display subsystem. So can we use AM3505 SoC with "SEPS525"? If yes, what are connections required?

I saw in Linux DSS driver and found that it has options for 16-bit, 24-bit RGB format. So it will be easy for us to do so.

Hi Biser,

I understood it. So we can not use this OLED display with AM3505.

Can suggest us either OLED or LCD which must be small (~1.6-1.8"), we have size constraint in our product?

Hi Biser,

After connecting OLED display with AM3505 DSS RFBI as shown here,

Setting up proper timings as required by my OLED display controller. I am able to perform register read/write from my OLED controller by AM3505 DSS RFBI. I observed here is RFBI write operation takes few (~15-17) microseconds of time. So if I tried to display my image using this write operation will give me 1-2 FPS for 160x128 resolution.

So how can I improve this?

I'm not a software expert, but you have 160*128 = 20480 pixels per frame, and if you are in RGB888 color this makes 61440 bytes of data per frame. See section 12.5.7 in the AM35X Technical Reference Manual for RFBI programming details.
