VCP, TCP differences C6414 to C665x

Hello,

I recently had someone ask about the differences between the VCP and TCP accelerators on C6414 and the VCPv2 and TCP3d that are on the C665x. I haven't found much documentation on this topic- can anyone provide some explanation? The main interest is in whether the VCPv2 and TCP3d have gotten more flexible between the generations- the versions on C6414 are basically constrained to use with 3G standards.

Thanks for any responses.

  • Hi Ellen,

TCP3d in C665x supports multi standard (UMTS, LTE, WiMAX) and also supports higher data rates when compared to TCP2 in C6414 (3G).

VCP2 in C665x offers more flexibility in terms of code rates, constraints lengths and supports more voice channels than VCP but both of them are targeted towards 3G.

    Regards,

    Arun
