Clock cycle counter?

Is there a clock cycle counter available for AM335x?

I plan to use it for very exact measurement of short time periods, there it would be nice to have a freely running counter that increases with every clock cycle and (optionally) can be reset to zero on start-up.

are you using CCS? Then have a look at Breakpoint window and the option for 'Count Event'.

More details should be in CCS help or ask in the CCS forum.

Hi Frank,

yes I'm using CCS but the time measurement has to be done application-internal, nothing that has to be used for debugging only.

Hi,

You can do this using the Cycle Count Register (CCNT) of Cortex-A8.
You need a assembly routine to access the CCNT register.
