Audio from AM1808 without AUDIO CODEC

Hi,

I'm working with AM1808 processor i need to play just two words ("WELCOME and BYE") from speaker.

My reference design is OMAP-l138. We feel audio codec increase the product cost.

Is there anyway to play the audio from software codec please let me know any procedure the play the audio from processor without any audio codec.

Hi Kumar,

I think that It is not possible but you can select low cost DAC for converting digital to analog for audio playing.

CODEC - ADC + DAC (MIC in & speaker or audio out)

DAC - only audio out

TI Audio DAC (PCM series)

Hi Kumar,

It is possible when you have DSP,

In case, If you are using any DSP processor (OMAL138, 137 (ARM+DSP) etc.) then you can write CODEC algorithm for audio support.
