Getting OMAPL138 LCDK StarterWare Working for ARM Problems

Hello,

I have an OMAP-L138 LCDK and an XDS100v2 JTAG Emulator. I am attempting get "any" of the StarterWare for OMAP-L138 to run for ARM. I have gotten DSP side examples to run. I am using CCSv5. I am using the OMAPL138_ARM.gel that can be found in the StarterWare directory. I have all LCDK DIP switches set to off. When I attempt debug spi_edma_arm5_omapl138_lcdkOMAPL138 I get the following error (below). I have tried other Arm projects and get the same problem. I am not sure why. I could send a cleaned zip of my project (since its just the StarterWare w/ directories changed) to anyone that thinks they could help me solve this. Thanks, Phil

Can you please set it to emulation boot mode and try again. Please see the similar kind of post below.

Hi Phil,

Please check the JTAG clock frequency also for XDS100v2 emulator, it looks like it got stuck at PLL initialization but it works well for DSP, anyhow please cross the JTAG clock frequency and see the similar link for solutions.

Hi Andy,

I am not sure what you mean. That link refers to the EVM, and I have the LCDK. It has some dip switches that set the boot bits and I set them to boot NAND16, i.e. 1-off 2-on 3-on 4-on. That seems correct to me but I am still getting the error even when I set them all to 0.

What I did was update CCSv5 with the latest software updates. I then created small hello world apps for both the ARM and DSP side and got the debugger working with each (error free). So out of the box, with the latest update the latest LCDK will compile Hello Worlds with the XDS100v2 JTAG emulator. So this problem is gone.

I am moving on to figuring out the SPI1, which I would like to use, without modifying the board if possible. Since TI highly muxed the SPI0 it would have been really nice of they would have left the SPI1 un-touched and mapped it out the expansion header (hint) - rather than depopulating the finger print sensor (kind of lame -- just saying -- I do love you guys).

Hi phil,

i am also getting the same problem while running the sample code for arm,i am using ccs 5.5 i have read the conversation, can i know how to update the ccs so that the error does not comes and how to set the switch to emulation boot mode in the kit,, i am using omap l138 lcdk
