AM3352 - Pin-muxing done in MLO?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hi!

I'm working with a product that is based on the AM3352. The company where we got this hardware from included an SD-card with working MLO, u-boot.img and uImage. I don't have access to any schematics of the hardware. As I have understood the pin-muxing is done in the MLO. Is this correct? The lack of any schematics for the hardware will make it complicated to do the pin muxing part for me.

What I wonder is if I can build my own u-boot.img code, but combine it with the MLO from the manufacturer. Or do I have to build both the MLO and u-boot.img by myself in that case?

Regards

Christoffer

  • Hi Christoffer,

Don't you have the source code for the MLO/U-Boot files provided by the manufacturer? These are distributed under the GPL license, so you should be able to get a copy of the sources if you ask for them.

Anyway, if there haven't been any modifications in the initialization part of the MLO code between the two versions of MLO/U-Boot, the one provided by the manufacturer and the one you plan to use, then you should be able to use the old MLO to load the new U-Boot. However, keep in mind that when building MLO/U-Boot there are some board specific configurations (in case of using a TI EVM these are located in <U-Boot_dir>/include/configs/am335x_evm.h), which you may not have if the manufacturer hasn't provided their source codes.

    Best regards,
    Miroslav
