DVSDK setup problem

Hello,

We have DVEVM6446 board. It has come with DM6446 DVEVM software tools DVDs.

We have installed DVEVM 1.10.

Now we want to install DVSDK. On DVSDK getting started guide, it says that you should install the same versin with DVEVM.

I think we should install DVSDK 1.10. I couldn’t find this software anywhere. The, I have decided to install DVSDK 2.0. I downloaded it from TI’s website. Shall I really install this version.

Another question is, guide says that  I should install dvsdk_setuplinux_#_##_##_##.bin, dsp_bios_setuplinux_#_##_##_##.bin, cg_setuplinux_#_##_##_##.bin in an order. What should be the versions of these. I also was not able to find cg_setuplinux software. What should I do?

Thank you very much

  • Hi Vakkas,

Just to give you some backgroud, in the old days we used to refer to our hardware board + eval software as DVEVM and our production software as DVSDK.  This caused confusion in two ways: 1) users of DVSDK often referred to hardware board as DVEVM which caused confusion on what software was being used. 2) 80% of software between DVEVM and DVSDK was the same, the exception being DVSDK users had access to MV Zone for newer kernel and copy of CCS.

This changed over two years ago in an effort to avoid confusion.  Now DVEVM refers to the hardware board and DVSDK to the software and users can buy MV License and CCS separately if they wish.  (actually, there was a time when DVSPB was created to include MV License + CCS, but now they are sold separately)

Are you reading this in an older documentation, if so please ignore; if in a newer doc, please let us know where so we can make the necessary corrections

That said, you should get DVSDK 2.0 from http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/S1SDKLNX/DVSDK_2_00/index_FDS.html .  The GSG was written generically, so #_##_##_## just stand for the version of the DVSDK you are downloading which vary from one DVSDK release to the next.  However, so long as you download all these files from the same DVSDK release link (link above for DVSDK 2.0) you can be sure you are installing the correct version.  Additionally, please note that GSG can change from one DVSDK version to the next, hence you should always use the GSG corresponding to the version of DVSDK you are installing.  The GSG is also found on the download link above (sprue66f for DM6446).  Note that the new GSG point to "TI-C6x-CGT-##_##_##.bin" instead of "cg_setuplinux_#_##_##_##.bin" and you should find TI-C6x-CGT-##_##_##.bin on that download page (link above).  Thus in conclusion, all you need to install DVSDK 2.0 should be accessible via link above, nice and simple... no need to look elsewhere.

Hope this helps clear things up.
