Hello all,

I am looking for an RTOS for the am3352. Does anyone have any suggestions?

1) How big is the Linux footprint (code size?

2) Green Hills and even threadx is expensive. Is there something less expensive

3) Need something to support USB, TCP/IP, file system

Hi Earl,

1. Linux is not exactly an RTOS. Code size is depending on configuration, 3.5MB average.

2. TI offers the free SYS/BIOS RTOS as part of the Industrial Development Kit (http://www.ti.com/tool/sysbiossdk-ind-sitara).

3. Details can be found in the SYS/BIOS documentation. There is also a dedicated forum for the IDK: http://e2e.ti.com/support/embedded/tirtos/default.aspx

I have worked with uClinux on the blackfin 537 DSP. The code size was 600KBytes compressed and 1.2 MBytes uncompressed to be run in SRAM.

Have you used SYS/BIOS before?

We are talking about real Linux on this processor, with MMU support and everything. This is not an RTOS. For SYS/BIOS turn to the forum from my previous post. This forum supports only Linux.

You can google for opensource RTOS out there. It also depends whether you want a readymade BSP with the RTOS or are willing to write your own. However, you should also consider the amount of support you need for the RTOS. If you decide to use one of the opensource RTOS, the Starterware code is an excellent complement to make drivers with the RTOS.
