[OMAP L138 LCDK] wiki-information about memory is inconsistent

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAPL138

Hello,

I'm a little bit confused about the memory related data listed on:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/L138/C6748_Development_Kit_%28LCDK%29#LCDK_Features

It points that you have 128MByte SDRAM and 128MByte NAND flash. Later in this wiki, the description of the on-board ICs reads that there is a 4Gbit NAND and a 1Gbit SDRAM connected to the board.

What does this mean? Does the target only allocates 128MByte of the NAND? Shouldnt it read 512MByte in the wiki?

Regards

Benjamin

  • Can anyone tell me how to figure this out by myself? I'm new to TI-products and embedded app programming.(*) So any help would be highly appreciated.

    * Well, I came from Microchip to TI. Now realizing, this is an entire new level of embedded programming for me. So documentary is essential for me to get started. But when documentation lacks of consistency, I cant figure out what information about the board I can rely on. I spent the last two weeks of my free-time to install the MCSDK on an ubuntu system, which was stated to be the best point for beginners to getting started. Learning that its wiki is a mess of information not entirely applicable to my system and asking massively for a logical sequence to install all the features my system and the mcsdk is supposed to provide. I hope you get the problem. I'm not a native english speeking.

  • Hi Benjamin,

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

OMAPL138 LCDK board has several revisions due to fixes and features,

The current OMAPL138 LCDK has the following:

512MB NAND flash (16 bit  wide)

    128MB DDR2 SDRAM running at 150MHz

Surely , You will find good technical documentation at "http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Main_Page"

You can also get good technical support from ti e2e website.

Please write to us If you encountered with any technical issues.
