Hello All,

I have a TMS320VC5416 DSK, which I want to get started on.

I am a total beginner when it comes to dsp programming.  I have a little bit of coding experience with micro-controllers but that is about it.  I do have a good understanding of dsp fundamentals from my BSEE days.

I am having trouble finding the answers to my questions on the TI website, so I figure I might ask them here:

1)  I have an installation cd that came with the kit  which contains outdated software (i.e. ccs v2.x).  I wish to use the latest cc (v5?).  Can somebody please tell me what I need files/patches to install on my computer (I run both windows xp and linux) to get my development environment set up and ready to go for the tms320vc5416 dsk without any hitches?  Again, unfortunately I am having trouble figuring out what I need exactly.

2) Are there any tutorials for the tms320vc5416 dsk?  I am desperate on figuring out how to get started.  What should I start with first and then after that?  I would be grateful for any help or direction given to me on this matter, whether official or from the community.

    Hi Shahebaz,

    1) Please check out our wiki page for downloading CCS: Download CCS

    2) We recommend moving to a C55x platform, if possible (such as the C5535 eZdsp). We do not have any teaching material for C54x, but do for C55x. Please check out our Teaching ROM for the C55x platform here: C5000 Teaching ROM for a complete walk-through on how to get started using the platform with CCS, as well as some example programs.
