C6748 Security Booting

Hello,

I have some simple questions regarding the secure booting process.

1) What do the 8 efuses mentioned in the processor security guide. (this one "TMS320C674x/OMAP-L1x Processor Security User's Guide")

2) Once the process is finished (ie the bootloader is programmed into the non-volatile memory) can we restrict the bootmode to only boot from the non volatile memory (and not the jtag or uart etc)

Thanks,

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

The 8 efuse bits are internal device efuses that are sensed during power up to determine if the device is a High security device or a General Purpose (GP) device. They are blown by TI on the production lines. The C6748E parts will have the efuse bits blown to indicate that it is HS device.

The process of limiting boot mode to only non-volatile memory can be done in your board design by connecting only by configuring to allow the boot switches to only boot from non-volatile memory. For hookups of boot switches, please refer to the Appendix section of the C6748 Bootloader user guide.
