C5505 EVM does not boot with ECG AFE attached

The EVM/MDK boots fine without the ECG AFE, but once the AFE is attached, the LED D1 (XF signal) stays on and the board does not boot from the SPI eeprom. I think there is a conflict on the SPI bus, since the AFE A/D and the EVM SPI EEPROM are using the same SPI port.  Has anyone also seen this problem?

    Bin,

    Yes, it is correct. the SPI EEPROM in the C5505 EVM and the ECG AFE share the same SPI port. The ECG AFE board uses the SPI ports to communicate with the ADS1258 in the AFE board, so the C5505 can't boot from the SPI EEPROM when you use the ECG AFE board. With the AFE board, EMIF (NOR or NAND) can be used as the boot source.

    I don't have an EMIF board right now, and try to get the EVM to boot from SD card. However, the hex55 utility seems only creating unsecured boot images, how do I create a secured boot image for C5505?

    Yes, it is correct. The hex55 tool does not create encrypted boot-images. Let me forward your message to the marketing team for the encrypted boot image support.

    Here is what I have received from marketing team.

    We support booting from SD card only in secure mode. Customers are required to get approval to get access to this  encryption utility.  Please contact your local TI representative to get further assistance to get this approval.

    Please contact your local TI sales and ask them about the secure boot-up of the C5505 to get the tool.

    Good day,

     Our company is developing new device using tms320c5515 DSP. We have bought EVM TMS320C5515 starter kit. Our requirements is to boot from SD card and USB. As far as we understand we need to make secure boot image, but we can't get the utility. We contacted our local representative located in Moscow, Russia but they don't know anything about it! Could you please help us!
