SRIO data transfer speed

Hi ,

I have configured my SRIO for 1 port 4x speed( 5 Gbps x4=20 Gbps.MYSNC =1 for port 0.path config=4,path mode=4

But I observe that profile time is as per 5 Gbps results,not 20 Gbps(I have referred .For example to transfer 4k bytes from dsp to end device,it takes 11 micro seconds if source address is L2 SRAM and 15 microS if its in DDR3.

What may be the reason for this.Please help ASAP

Hi Thomas,

Refer section 15 on "Throughput Performance Guide" for different line rate. calculate your throughput value and compare.

Hi Ganapathi,

I refered the Throughput Performance Guide for arriving at the throughput values. The practical values for port speed of 5Gbps are almost same as the values mentioned in the Guide. But i configured my port in 4x mode. So, ideally the speed is 20 Gbps. But the profile values matches to 5 Gbps.

Hi Thomas,

Can we get a better understanding of your system setup?

Which TI device(s) are you using?
Are they 2 TI DSPs connected to each other?
Are you using TI EVMs or custom boards?
How are the devices connected?

You should confirm that the 4 lanes are truly being configured into the 4x port. There is a feature that will auto-negotiate the link down to a 1x port if there is an issue with a lane. This could explain why you're seeing the throughput numbers for the 1x 5 Gbps port.

Hi Clinton,

1) We are using TI 6608 processor.

2) No. TI 6608 is connected to SRIO end device.

3) we are using custom boards.

4) Its point to point ,not through switch.

Is there any way to confirm whether link is down to 1x port due to auto negotiation?

Hi Thomas,

yes, SRIO support auto-negotiate feature, that will down the link to a 1x port if there is an issue with a lane.

TCI66xx devices such as TCI6608 are supported directly through Local Field Applications Engineers (FAEs.) These devices are not supported on the E2E forum.
