Smart Home and Energy Gateway

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hi,

I'm more on the IT software development (and rather new but very much interested in/to IoT software development) then on the hardware side. Therefore I have some questions about the "Smart Home and Energy Gateway Reference Design" http://www.ti.com/tool/tiep-smart-energy-gateway

1. The processor used is an Ti Sitara AM3352 ARM Cortex-A8 processor; what board can I use (is available) for my development?
2. I also would like interfacing with different communication protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee). What "options" do I need in supplement of a (base) board (see question 1)?
- I suppose this reference design is not only meant for testing what is described in the document (see link above), but also for own development purposes?
- The board (see question 1) runs a Linux distribution (on which i can install Java 8 ME or Java SE)?
- The Zigbee communication supports two profiles: Smart Energy 1.1 and Home Automation: what exactly is meant by a "profile"?

Thanks for answering my questions.
