Hyperlink Station Management Capabilities/Status Message

After the 0b1110 Capabilities/Status message is received, it is followed by the 4-bit Capability message, and then a 4-bit Status message. The Hyperlink user guide (SPRUGW8C) provides a definition of the 4-bit Capability message (after Table 2-3), but does not define the 4-bit status message. Is that definition missing?

  • Martin,

The info for 4-bit status message was missed in user guide, we will include this in the next release. Sorry for this!

    Regards, Eric

  • Hi Eric -

Can you tell me the meaning of the status bits in this post? Thanks.

    Regards,

    - Marty

  • Marty,

The Below table is the decode of the 4 bit Status value.

    Bit

    Description

    0

Remote lost ECC Sync – Only valid for the TxFL/RxFL bus.

    1

REM_SM_LINK_DN – Remote station management link down. The TxFL/TxPM carries the state of the RxFL/RxPM station management link, and the RxFL/RxPM carries the state of the TxFL/TxPM station management link.

    2

    3

    Reserved - Always zero

    Regards, Eric

  • Eric -

Ok, I think I understand. To be sure, let me re-phrase the information you provided.

Status bit 0 will always be zero for status bits sent on TXPM and received on RXPM.

For Status bit1, if the TX Station Mgmt logic is down, then bit 1 of the status message sent on the RXFL output will be asserted.

Likewise if the RX Station Mgmt logic is down, then bit 1 of the status message sent on the TXPM output will be asserted.

Also, it appears that the 4-bit status received on the TXFL input is reflected in the txsts bits of the Side Band State register, and the status received on the RXPM input is reflected in the rxsts bits of the Side Band State register.

    Does all that sound correct?

    Regards,

    - Marty

  • That is correct.
