remoteproc1: failed to load dra7-ipu2-fw.xem4

Hi,

We are trying to bring up Tizen on TI-DRA7xx EVM, we are able to boot up. While booting up, dra7-ipu2-fw firmware is loaded successfully.

But after booting , it keeps throwing the message : remoteproc1: failed to load dra7-ipu2-fw.xem4

We are trying to run HW decoder , but it doesnt work as it is dependent on above mentioned Firmware to be loaded properly.

We are working on GLSDK 6.03 release and we are using the same firmware.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

chetan

  • Hello Chetan,

There is an issue, when you are running dra7xx board with no ethernet cable plugged in, which results in getting the error: remoteproc1: failed to load dra7-ipu2-fw.xem4. Please see the bellow article:
    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/GLSDK_FAQs#Issues_while_running_sample_applications

Could you repeat your test with ethernet cable plugged in the J6 board?

    Best Regards,

    Yordan

  • Hi Yordan,

We kept FW files as part of kernel image and tried , it worked.

We have disabled ethernet driver for our application , do you think the article you mentioned will have any impact ?

  • Chetan,

The board needs working ethernet, in order to boot faster & properly load the IPU firmware.
So you should have working ethernet, otherwise if you've disabled the ethernet driver, I think, plugging the cable won't help.

This is a limitation of the GLSDK release.

    Best Regards,

    Yordan
