That is correct; what was once accomplished in the board file has now been moved to Device Tree.  This should make things a bit more straightforward and simple in the porting process.  You can refer to our Software Developer's Guide for more information on what has changed between your SDK and SDK 7.0.

Where did you read about the DT? Is a complete document on the DT architecture and it's use for Linux 3.12 machines available out there?

I see just many samples, and forum advises, without any explanation.

In particular, how do I know what the keywords "exclusive-use" "fragment@0" "__overlay__"  mean, and how to properly use them?

Or, I know that << version = "00A0"; >> construct is reated to the cape ID eeprom content. But if I try change it to "01A1" - both in the dts, and eeprom, the Linux kernel boot fail to recognize the cape.

I actually just read about the switching to DT, but I am having trouble finding the detailed info too.

The first question after I took a look at the dts directory is that in those dts files, how do we know those numbers in front of the text? Is there some sort of DT editor, or?

You could look at the individual components of the SDK 7.0 kernel overview for more information on Device Tree entries.  For instance, the audio and display pages have information on relevant Device Tree entries in the Board Port section.
