My customer needs to use the TMS320C6678 to configure the SPI port of the TI lmk04828 clock generator. It looks like the SPI port of the DSP does not support a bi-directional SDIO serial data bus of the clock generator. Suggestions?

Hi Viktorija,

If you are only using the bus to configure the LMK04828, I suggest you use three GPIO pins an bit-bang the interface. This would allow you to reconfigure the data bit from output to input for reads.

Because there are only 16 GPIO, customer would prefer not to go that route. Any other options?

Viktorija,

You could design some logic that converts the 4-pin SPI on the SOC to the 3-pin SPI on the clock part. If you don't ever read from the clock generator, you might be about to connect the DOUT to the clock generator and just ensure that the SOC never attempts to read from the part.
