CLKOUT2 and Pixel Clock

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3358

Hi,

I'm using the AM3358 CLKOUT2 signal with the Pixel Clock as its source.  I had assumed that "pixel clock" meant the clock being output by the AM3358 to the display (i.e. LCD_PCLK).  However, the frequency I'm seeing on CLKOUT2 suggests it's actually using the LCD_CLK signal as it seems to be unaffected by the LCD CLKDIV register setting (see section 13.3.1.1 of the TRM).

Can someone at TI confirm precisely which clock is meant by "pixel clock" when used as the source for CLKOUT2?

Thanks.

  • Hi Chris,

In the context of CLKOUT2 clock source, PIXEL_CLOCK means the PLL output to the LCDC, not the actual external LCD pixel clock.

AM335X TRM Rev. J, section 8.1.6.12: "CLKOUT2 can be sourced from the 32-KHz crystal oscillator or any of the PLL (except MPU PLL) outputs."
