RTC reset

Hi all,

My HW guy, thinking that the RTC was not needed followed the advice of:

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/AM335x_Schematic_Checklist#RTC

here it is recommended that if the RTC is not needed then the RTC_PWRONRSTn net be shorted to VSS but only if you do not want the RTC at all.  As far as I can tell this causes erratic behavior in Linux. When Linux tries to sleep, occasionally it just does not wake up.

My question is: given that this ball on the ZCZ package is located on the second row from the edge and therfore it is impossible to rework the board to remove this net from VSS, is it possible to enable the RTC despite the RTC_PWRONRSTn being held low?  i.e. can I do this through the pin muxes?  Another solution? Make Linux not care about the RTC? Is there any hope?  Or should I just spin the board?

Arrg.

Thanks!

Chuck
