Hello all,

We have an old HW with TMS320C6415 DSP that interfaces with a PC using PCI-32 bit. Now we are moving to W7 OS 64-bit. Is it possible to run the C6415 PCI 64-bit ?...what options do we have in case we can't (and must go to W7)

Murad,

You have an old board, but have not identified it. Perhaps Rahul knows which board, but can you look at it to see if it has an edge connector that is compatible with a PCI-64 slot in a PC?

If you check the C6415 datasheet, it mentions that the PCI peripheral has a 32-bit-wide bus that runs at 33MHz.

I cannot claim to be an expert on your board or Win7 or even the PCI standard, but I do not see how 32 bits can run PCI-64.

Then again, why do you need to run PCI-64 just to use Win7-64? If Win7 has support for PCI-32 then it will just depend on whether your board vendor has necessary driver updates or not, right? Or maybe it will work fine. Have you tried it?

We are re-designing the board using the multi-core DSP and hence not dealing with the PCI anyways.
