re: TMS320c6426

Could you please let me know who the FAE POC is for supporting the TI c642x DSP?  We are starting on an audio software porting project for our algorithm for one of our customers, and our software engineering team has several questions.

Jerry

  • Jerry,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages. Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others have asked and answered.

You can contact your TI sales professional or your local authorized distributor for contact information, as appropriate.

This forum is the right place to ask your questions in most cases. After searching for quick answers for many questions, of course.

  • Hi RandyP,

Thank you very much for your fast reply!  One quick question is we need to input 12 discrete channels of audio.  I looked at the data sheet pdf file, and it looks like this DSP can handle multi-channel audio up to 12 channels.  So, the big question is, using the evaluation board, how do we get 12 discrete channels of digital audio in?  I think we can use the RS-232 interface, however, will we need to build a custom cable, or is one provided with 6 AES/EBU connectors to hook up to the 12 channels of mono audio inputs?

Also, our process is a mono in stereo out 3D sound localization cue algorithm.  So, with 12 channels in as mono, we will be producing 24 channels out as mono L and mono R, or 12 channel stereo out, which will be mixed to 2 channel stereo out (L/R) in our process, so we really do not need to push out 12 stereo channels, only input 12 discrete mono channels to our process.

I did not see anything on the wiki pages with this kind of information, and hence my request to be connected directly to the FAE at TI who is intimately familiar with I/O config for this processors evaluation kit.

  • Jerry,

Your original question has been answered, so this thread will not get much attention other than being a good place for future readers to see that answer.

Please post your technical question to a new thread with a descriptive title, and please check the device number. I am not familiar with a TMS320C6426 and did not find it on TI.com.

Your description is a little confusing, such as describing mono L + mono R = 1 stereo channel out. And I am not familiar with AES/EBU connectors, which may be a hint that the custom cable does not exist yet, unless you can find it on the web. Check the board vendor's web site to see what extra items they have available for the EVM, and you can check the web for add-on support for most standard EVMs.
