Hello people.

My name is Chris and I am a newbie in DSP.

I am designing a DVB-T STB/PVR (for free SD/HD channels).

The device will be comprised by a silicon tuner with diff. I/Q outputs, then 2 diff. ADCs followed by a DM8168.

Question #1: Are there any specific pins I should use for reading the data in?

Question #2: I saw in "Algorithms and Codecs"
(http://focus.ti.com/dsp/docs/dspfindtoolswbytooltype.tsp?sectionId=3&tabId=1460&toolTypeId=65&familyId=44)
that all the dots are grayed for the DM8168. Is this because the codecs are implemented in hardware, or am I missing the point completely?

Question #3: Is there a COFDM block for C6Flo?

PS:
I am not using an EVM. All tests/debug will be conducted on the final prototype, once it's finished.

Hi Chris,

You are having an interesting product based on DM816x. Regd. your questions:

1. Can you share what data will be coming out of the silicon tuner? I'm not familiar with STB platforms.

2. I'm sure that its not for hardware accelerated codecs, as DM365 has hardware accelerated codecs, but its still blue. Also audio codecs are all in software, and it still in grey. What I believe that it has something to do with eval version or availability of production quality software from Third Party(for Blue items).

3. Not sure about this, but most likely may not be available.

Hello Thomas and apologies for the delayed response.

The output of the tuner is a COFDM modulated MPEG4 (or MPEG2) TS

Hi Christos,

I believe your tuner can be interconnected to DM81xx. It can do the decoding as well.
