DDR3L IBIS Model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352, TPS51200

Hi,

Our customer is planning planning to use DDR3L with AM3352.
We would like to know if the current AM335x IBIS model support DDR3L?

And if the TPS51200 is used for the VTT,
is the TPS51200 also included in the AM335x IBIS model?
If not what settings should be done for the VTT.

Regards
Prad

  • Hi Prad,

Section 5.1.1 of the AM335X Datasheet Rev. F states:

"For the mDDR(LPDDR), DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L memory interface, it is not necessary to use the IBIS
models to analyze timing characteristics. TI provides a PCB routing rules solution that describes the
routing rules to ensure the mDDR(LPDDR), DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L memory interface timings are met."

The DDR3/DDR3L guidelines can be found in section 5.6.2.3 of the AM335X Datasheet Rev. F.

  • Hi Biser,

    Thank you,

I understood that it is not necessary to use the IBIS for DDRx.

    But the below Wiki mentions
"IBIS modeling can be used to fine tune the set of options for a given PCB"
    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/How_to_use_the_AM335x_IBIS_Models

Just in case we would like to know if it is supported?

    Regards
    Prad
