DM365 DVR Reference Design Console Output

Expert 1130 points

I just got the DVR Reference Design and signed in to the serial interface. it keeps printing messages making it difficult to type anything. How do I get this to stop? Is the DVR fully functional? Do I have to install any software on the DVR? I installed the Windows app Meerkat2, but I'm not connecting to the server. The subnet doesn't match ours so I want to change it and turn DHCP on.

  • Where did you buy this DM365 DVR reference design?  Normally these reference designs are developed and supported thru our third parties, but maybe there is someone in this community that has played with this DVR design (once we identify where it came from).

  • Hi MRI,

Which version of DVR application are you using? The latest release is ver 1.0 which does not have any such issue of continuous prints on console.

For using Meerkat, you have to setup the IP address for the DVR and use that IP address in Meerkat VMS configuration. The details are mentioned in the user guide and the FAQ document in ver 1.0 release. Have you already referred to the documents?

Actually, if you have bought the DVR directly from UDWorks website, you can send support queries to UDWorks and can get a response on these issues,

  • I plugged in a mouse, keyboard and VGA display to the DVR and navigated to Setup/System Information window and confirmed that I have firmware version 1.0A and HW version 0.5. When I connect with the serial port using Putty I get the following output and it's continuous. You have to kill the uimain process to get it to stop.

I modified the /etc/network/cfg-network to enable DHCP and confirmed that it's getting a proper subnett address, mask and default gateway address, but I can't connect with the MeerKat Live Viewer. I have a camera connected to input 1 and connected the output passthru to a TV monitor and confirmed that I'm getting camera output. I can also see the camera output on the VGA monitor.

When I Add and IP Recorder in MeerKat Live Viewer, I have to put entries for the Site name, ID and Password; otherwise, when press OK I get a message that it's connecting to the server and then the IP Recorder window opens again with all the information I entered blanked out.

I've gone through the User Guide and FAQ, but I've not read anything that was realyy useful from a user standpoint to do simple record and playback. Is the unit setup to do this out-of-the-box? I assumed so, but I see not file listing of recorded video or how to rewind, playback etc. Very simple stuff and I've tried from the front panel, through uimain or MeerKat.

Finally, I did check UDWorks website and when I select Support the page is not in English so I have no idea what to do.

This shouldn't be this difficult. The serial console output is below:

  • FYI, the following link http://www.udworks.com/home01/eg/company/sub07.php suggests you should send technical inquiries to product_udworks@udworks.com

  • Hi,

Looks like you have already got an answer from UDWorks. Actually, the problem seem to happen when the input to channel 0 is not connected and cameras are connected to other ports. Then at this time, if you try to connect VMS to the DVR and connect to channel 0, those error messages can come.

The DVR is setup for an out-of-box experience. It does not come with alreayd recorded streams. But once you power on the DVR, it will start recording as soon as there are any inputs connected to the channels. You can then playback the streams on the DVR itself.

Current reference design does not have the capability to store the files in the PC and then playback using some standard media players. The current encoded content can either be played back on DVR itself or on the PC using VMS.

The Userguide and the FAQ documentation provides the details on how to setup DVR for basic operations and use it for recording and playing back.

    Regards,

    Anshuman
