TMS320C5505 eZdsp USB Stick, Windows Vista and XDS100 driver

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320VC5505

Hi,

I installed the CCS that came with TMS320VC5505 eZDSP USB Stick kit. I then plugged in the eZDSP USB Stick. But Vista was unable to find the XDS100 driver. I removed
the stick. And then did a software update from within CCS. CCS was updated to version 4.0.2. I once again plugged in the eZDSP USB stick. This time Vista wasable to find the drivers. Now I am able to run the 'LED Blink' demo as given in the Quick Start Guide.

I use Windows Vista on a Toshiba laptop.

Just thought I will share my experience in case someone comes across a similar problem in getting started with eZDSP.

Thanks TI for making DSP development easier and affordable for the hobbyist!

  • Hey Luke,

thanks for sharing your experience. While the eZdsp board is economically viable for the hobbyist, there is a serious lack of community and code base for this new board. Therefore, I really think everybody could profit from the board a lot more if everybody shared their findings and experiences.

By the way: The current version of CCS is v4.1. I had a number of apparently random problems (such as the device configuration being messed up randomly after a restart of CCS) with v4.0 which were solved in v4.1. If you can take having to uninstall and then install everything again, I would suggest to take the plunge. It can be pretty frustrating having to deal with flaws of the IDE, especially if you are still unsure of the board and things like JTAG, emulation, memory models, algebraic vs mnemonic assembly and what not (since then you are typically not sure if the IDE is causing problems or anything else).

    Regards,

    Michael
