Ethernet PHY for DM6467

Hi there,

I have a DM6467EVM board and it uses a ET1011C Ethernet PHY which is fairly old. Has anyone tried other PHY ICs instead? Are there any additional changes needed in the DVSDK driver code if we choose other PHY for the GHz Ethernet?

Potentially yes, if you use a different PHY it may require a different initialization sequence, which would require modifications to the lower levels of the network driver. What exactly would need to change depends on what is different about your new PHY.

I am fairly sure this is something other users have done, however I am not aware of any examples or application notes on migrating to a new PHY.

Hi,

have you already tested other PHYs?

I'm also interested in a replacement. A 100MBit Fast Transceiver would be enough for me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The only PHY I am aware of being tested by TI is the PHY on the EVM mentioned above, hopefully some other community users can comment further as to alternate PHYs they may have used.
