difference between /dev/video2 and /dev/video3

We are using Appro v2.6 based IPNC DM365 reference design. We try to output BT656 signal and would like to know if we can use /dev/video2 or /dev/video3 to configure DM365(8) digital output ?

What is the difference between /dev/video2 and /dev/video3 ?

These are the video devices which can be configured for video capture at different levels. Too check the default mapping of the video devices please refer the media controller documentation or code for your project.

These devices can't be used randomly untill unless configurations are taken care appropriately. Media Controller/v4l2 defines these layout and TI Softwares like dvsdk has dedicated video device for specific use cases.

Are you sure the /dev/video2 is for video capture ? Is it also used for VPBE (backend) abstraction ? I saw some IPNC code use /dev/video2 to configure analog output mode (PAL or NTSC).

Yes It can be capture/display etc....that depends on video media controller configurations
