Flashing TI ICE 3359 using SPI

Hello,

I am using TI ICE 3359 for one of my university project and this is my first hands on with TI device.

I am using Ubuntu13.10 64bit OS and downloaded the "ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00" for testing some arm benchmarks in it.

i wish to flash my application using the SPI flash and installed "AM335X_StarterWare_02_00_01_01" assuming it is the flashing tool.

But in the wiki page it states to start with ccs and load the gel file. I am CCS and i have example application build with the above sdk. I wish to flash those files and test it.

I am not able to understand the way to flash using SPI as i am not using CCS (CCS had some problems with ubuntu13.10 as it was 32bit and could not install).

Can someone guide me how to use this StarterWare to load the files into target.

The ICE board is not supported by the TI Linux EZSDK package.

Sunil,

TI Starterware and Linux SDKs do not support the ICE boards.

You need to load and use the special starterware version and tools within the IA-SDK http://www.ti.com/tool/sysbiossdk-ind-sitara.

Thanks for your response. As i followed the link it is available only for windows ?

I am not having windows OS. Any toolchain for Linux ?

The quick start guide doesn´t have details about the flashing through SPI.

As i read through the details of ICE3359 i feel it is possible to flash through SPI.

Please correct me if i am wrong. !

Now the point is (as you stated) TI doesn´t have Linux EZSDK package !

But i can use ´"ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00´ to build my application right ? I am able to compile and generate the executable and map files without any issues for the arm benchmarks provided as examples.

I would like to flash one among this and check ! Is that possible by any ways ?

Correct me if i am wrong or if my words sound stupid :P

That is a Linux SDK...of course you may port this to ICE board but it needs some work. See other forum entries...

For the IA-SDK we have no windows installer. Just run this on any Windows machine and copy the resulting folder to your Linux box. If you have CCS 5.5 and the required libs (see docs) there you should be able to use it. You get full sources for the ARM side. We are not testing or directly supporting the IA-SDK Linux setup though...
