Class 10 SD card not working on AM335x starter kit

Hi Folks,

I am a technical sales engineer. One of my customers is working on an AM335x starter kit and he wants to check the boot up time of the kit with a class 10 SD card . The issue is that the kit is booting up with a class 4 SD card (that came with the kit) but not with a class 10 SD card. One other observation made earlier was that the kit was only booting up with Sandisk SD cards. Please do help on this issue.

Hi Srijan,

There will be no time gain. The MMC driver clocks the card at 24MHz in 4-bit mode. I suspect the issue with your customer is how he prepared the card.

Hi Biser,

Thanks for the revert. I also wanted to understand what SD cards run (if properly prepared) on the kit and what cards have failed to boot-up in the kit? As far as I have heard the Kingston SD cards don't boot up the kit.

Hi Biser,

if we prepare 4GB card with given method on TI guideline, it works. but when we do the same on 8 GB card, it fails.

would you please guide how to prepare the card.

Hi,

Please let me know how you prepare your SD cards. The correct way to do this is to use the create-sdcard.sh script from the <SDK>/bin folder and run it from within this folder.

Which version of the SDK do you use? Do you use an external card reader or is it integrated in your host PC?
