DM814x encoder format

Hi,

Is the H.264 encoder in DM814x/6x output format type called ES (elementary stream , H.264 raw )?

Is this the reason we can't see the time indication when this file format is played with VLC ?

Are you familiar with open source code to convert this format to TS (MPEG-2 TS) ? When I tried to use es2ts tool on the encoder format, I got unrecognized format in VLC.

Hello,

You could use gstreamer to convert it. Here is example how to use mpegtsmux element:

gst-launch ! ..... ! ..... ! omx_h264enc ! mpegtsmux ! filesink location=test.ts

But gstreamer can't be used with RDK framework, so it doesn't help.

I also wander why es2ts does not work.

Maybe someone is familiar with other methods ?

Hello,

I am not familiar with the tool that you are using.

Have you tried with ffmpeg command?

You also could try with gstreamer plugin on PC?

Are you want to put the Elementary Stream in MPEG-TS container by using PC or you want to do it on the board?

I will try to involve someone for DVR support.

Ran,

I suggest you look at http://tstools.berlios.de/. It is a utility which can multiplex H.264 streams into a transport stream.

Hi,

I did convert the h.264 raw to mp4 using ffmpeg, and it works. Actually all I need is to add support to metadata (601.7 specification)

But As far as I understand supporting metadata, means to support one of the known format which internally have support to metadata such as MPEG-2 TS, or .mp4 formats. Is that right ?

Margarita, as to the question if the conversion should be done in PC or embedded, if metadata is required I guess it must be done in embedded because metadata is given on-the-fly.

Are you familiar with this issue of metadata support ?
