OMAP4460 debugger

Hi All

we are looking for OMAP4460 debugger for our custom board. presently we have XDS100 but this no more helpful for us

as we are looking for "KERNEL LEVEL" debugger.

Pls suggest suitable debugger.

There are several types of Emulators available for OMAP4 processors:

XDS Pro Trace The XDS Pro Trace is next generation of Trace Receiver product replacing the XDS560T. The primary function of this product is to capture high-speed trace data exported from the pins of TI devices to enable non-intrusive debug and analysis usecases.

XDS560 XDS560 Trace external JTAG emulator

XDS100 - low cost emulator

I think the best choice will be XDS560.

Thanks for the response. We would like to go with XDS200.

Can you please confirm that we can use this emulator with Eclipse / Code Composer Studio IDE and use the environment for Linux kernel level debugging?

Hello Rajam,

Yes, XDS200 emulators offer a balance of low cost with good performance and fit inbetween the super low cost XDS100 and high performance XDS560 class emulators.

#Q: Can you please confirm that we can use this emulator with Eclipse / Code Composer Studio and use the environment for Linux kernel level debugging?

The XDS200 is compatible with Code Composer Studio™ development environment. It requires CCS 5.2.0 version + latest emulation update.

XDS200 grants direct access to the application program, memory and registers, and provide the ability to control device execution. You will can debug Linux Kernel code but CCSv5 has some limitations. CCSv4 is Linux Kernel aware.

Thanks Yanko for the fast response.

we will use CCS V4 version for Linux kernel debugging.

And CCS v5 for application level debugging and u-boot debugging.

Hi Yanko/Ravikumar,

I have OMAP4460 based development board(Pandaboard ES) and XDS200 debugger.

I need to know:

whether CCS v4/v6 is free to use to debug the Pandaboard ES (Bare metal debugging and Linux kernel debugging)
Also the addition tools/license I need to consider to fulfill the above requirement.
